I used to wait for life to happen.
I had so many things I wanted to do. Move to London. Become a freelance writer. Start this blog.
But it was never the right time. I didn’t know enough about freelancing and blogging. I was afraid of making a mistake, taking the wrong decision, looking foolish and failing miserably.
Do you ever feel the same? Like, there’s something new you want to do, a career change you want to make, a business you’re itching to start, yet it’s never the right moment to start it?
You know in your heart you’re meant to do it but your Inner Mean Girl keeps finding new things that could go terribly wrong and now you’re stuck. You feel like you have to slay any fear you have before you can begin but as soon as you deal with one, another one promptly pops up as if out of nowhere!
Is there no end to this?!
If you’re waiting to stop feeling afraid, you’ll be waiting all your life.
Look, I get it. It’d be awesome if you could start something knowing from the very beginning you’re gonna be successful, will never make a mistake and everything will unfold exactly as you planned.
But that’s not how life work. Think about anything you’ve done in your life. How you’ve learned to walk. Ride a bike. Calculate. Date, even.
Did you know what you were doing or did you just went for it and learned along the way?
You went for it. You fell down. You made mistakes. You got back up again. Every day you got a little better. Until you mastered it. Or maybe you realised it wasn’t for you. So you’ve tried a new way. Went in a different direction.
It’s called being a beginner.
Whatever you’re itching to start, approach it with a beginner’s mind. Take that first step. Make mistakes. Learn from them. Change direction if you don’t like where you’re heading.
Take action. Every. Single. Day.
That’s how you make your wildest dreams come true.
