I wish I had this self-love thing nailed down once and for all.
But, it doesn’t work like that. I can feel awesome for a week and then, one day, I catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror and cringe in disgust at how fat I am. And am I really smart enough to write this blog?
This self-love journey isn’t straight and narrow. It’s a long, winding road with plenty of turns and bumps along the way. It doesn’t matter if you’ve just made your first tentative step along this path or if you’re a seasoned traveller, there are always gonna be days like that.
Days when you think your thighs are too fat, you’re not smart enough to go after that job or not fun enough for that guy to be interested in you. Some days just suck.
On those days, you’ve got to sprinkle some glitter and magic into your life. Here are my fave 15 ways to instantly add a dash of self-love into your day, today:
1. Set And Achieve One Small Goal
I’m not asking you to climb Mount Everest or to ask that hot guy out (although, you can totally do that – ask the guy out I mean. It’ll take you longer than one day to climb Mount Everest). Just pick something small you can easily achieve in one day. Maybe you’ve always wanted to switch your mid-afternoon brownie snack for a bunch of healthier walnuts or clean up your bedroom. Do it. It’ll make your day.
2. Dress Up
Wear your best dress. Put on your fave pair of high heels. Swipe on a bright red lippie. Just because.
3. Move Your Body
It doesn’t matter how. Dance. Run. Walk. Jump. Stretch. Whatever makes you feel good and gets those endorphins pumping. I always sing and dance along to the Wicked soundtrack whenever I’m feeling down. It’s so much fun and I feel like a new person afterwards.

Scrolling through your social media feeds makes you feel like a failure? Click that unfollow button. And don’t feel guilty about it. You don’t have to put up with anything that makes you feel bad. 5. Treat Yourself
Buy yourself a bunch of flowers. Treat yourself to a massage. Enjoy a bubble bath. Buy yourself a new pair of shoes. Guilt-free. You deserve it, gorgeous.
6. Sing It Out
You know that song that makes you feel like you can accomplish everything you set your mind to? Play it. Sing it at the top of your lungs. Dance it out. Repeat.

7. Help Someone Out
A neighbour with her shopping. Your little sister with her homework. Or volunteer at your church. Or at any other organization. Just do something nice for someone else. It’ll make everyone happier.
8. Immerse Yourself In Nature
Even if it’s just spending 5 minutes in your back garden. Or going for a walk around the neighbourhood. There’s something so soothing about nature. It makes you forget about your cares and gets you in touch with your inner soul.
9. Take Some Me Time
Use it to do something you love. Like reading a good book. Paint a new picture. Take some photos of your dogs. Whatever makes your soul come alive. Even if just for 5 minutes. Guilt-free.
10. Try Something New
Something you’ve always wanted to do but never got around to. Like signing up for that hip hop dance class. Try Lebanese food. Wear a crazy purple lipstick. Just shake things up a bit.
11. Eat A Food You Love. Mindfully
Go on, treat yourself to that piece of chocolate. Or to a few berries. Or a juicy peach. Taste every bit. Feel its texture. Savour every bite. It’ll be like eating it for the first time.
12. Do Nothing
Take a break from the chaos of life for few minutes and just be.
13. Write A List Of Your Strength
Grab pen and paper and jot down all the things you like about yourself. Hang it on your wall. Read it often.
Take a deep breath in while you think about something you love about yourself. Exhale it out. Repeat. Even if for just a couple of minutes. There’s nothing like it to melt all your cares and stress away.
15. Pay Someone Else A Compliment
Spread the love. You’ll make someone else’s day. And yours, too.
